Motion Design

Project Brief

This brief helps me understand your project fully before I scope, quote, or start creative work. The more detail you can share, the more accurate my proposal and timeline will be. Skip anything that doesn't apply, and don't worry about having every answer.

1. Your Company

Who you are and what you do. Include your brand's personality, mission, and values so I can align the creative with your identity.

2. Project Contacts

Names and contact details for key stakeholders. Please identify one primary point of contact for approvals and day-to-day communication.

3. Project Overview

Why is this video being made, and how does it fit into your wider marketing strategy?

4. Deliverables

List every output you need: additional formats, aspect ratios (16:9, 9:16, 1:1), subtitle requirements, languages, and any other technical specs. Note the purpose of each deliverable.

5. Video Duration

Desired length(s). E.g. a 90-second explainer, or a series of 15-second social cutdowns.

6. Budget

An estimated budget range helps us gauge scope and propose ideas that fit your financial expectations.

7. Key Objectives

What are the primary goals? E.g. brand awareness, driving website traffic, educating your audience. Measurable objectives make success easier to evaluate.

8. Tone and Aesthetic

Desired tone and visual style. Professional, playful, or emotional? Sleek and modern, or warm and approachable? Anything that inspires the creative direction is useful here.

9. Audience

Describe your target audience: demographics, interests, challenges, and behaviours. A clear picture ensures the messaging resonates.

10. Timeline and Key Dates

Overall timeline plus any critical dates (launches, events, seasonal campaigns) and time-sensitive requirements.

11. Distribution Channels

Where will the videos be used? Website, TV, paid social, etc. This helps us tailor the edit to the platform.

12. Filming or Asset Requirements

Do you need live-action filming, and if so where (on-site, outdoors, studio)? Or is this fully motion / animation from existing assets? Note any logistics, permits, or accessibility needs. Please be prepared to link me to brand guidelines, design systems or other available assets before the creative starts.

13. Deadline

What date are you aiming for delivery? I'll build the production timeline around this.

14. Sign-Off Process

How will approvals be managed on your side? How many stakeholders are involved, and how many rounds of feedback do you expect to need?

15. Reference Videos

Share examples that align with your vision, competitors, past projects, or inspiration from other industries. Links are great here.

Brief received — thank you, I'll be in touch soon.
